Roger Browne will tell us the story of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band and play some of their greatest hits

Roger Browne has appeared in jazz clubs and festivals all over the world and provided piano accompaniment for many national and international legends. He will be telling us the strange story of the role that King George V played in bringing Traditional Jazz to Britain in 1919 with The Original Dixieland Jazz Band, how society in Britain was never to be the same again, and the unlikely link with Queen Mary’s Needlework Guild. His talk will be illustrated with live playing, on piano, of the ODJB’s greatest hits.
