Roger Browne: The Lives and Music of the Gershwin Brothers.

Roger Browne is a professional raconteur, writer, director, vocalist, and pianist. He has appeared in jazz clubs and festivals all over the world and provided piano accompaniment for many national and international legends such as Stefane Grappelli, Marion Montgomery
and Humphrey Lyttleton. You may remember his excellent presentation last year about Scott Joplin. This time, he will be telling
us about brothers George and Ira Gershwin - their lives, inspirations, and phenomenal contribution to American music. Initially working as a
Tin Pan Alley song plugger, George became one of the greatest composers of his generation and Ira one of the greatest lyricists. Their
work spanned several genres - symphonic work, opera, jazz and show music. They produced hundreds of songs that are still popular to this day. The presentation will include live performances, on piano, of their music. 101 attendees.
