Claire Ollett spoke about the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen and some of the amazing artefacts that were uncovered.

Arguably one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history was the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen, by the English archaeologist and Egyptologist, Howard Carter. The discovery grabbed the attention of the world and Carter himself uttered the words "everywhere the glint of gold" to describe the unbelievable scene that met his eyes. This talk looked at the build-up to the discovery, the events of that fateful day in November 1922 (and the immediate aftermath), as well as some of the amazing artefacts that have captured the imaginations of people the world over. 117 members were spellbound by the combination of the story and the stunning images used to illustrate it.
Claire Ollett has a First Class Honours degree and a Masters in Egyptology from the University of Liverpool, where she was holder of the prestigious Duncan Norman Research Scholarship. Over the last 15 years, Claire has worked closely with a number of museums, including The Atkinson in Southport, and designs and delivers tailor-made Egyptology sessions in those museums, as well as in schools across the North West.
