Paula Yates spoke about the work and decisions of the Family Court.
What happens when parents can’t agree over a particular issue? When should a child be taken into care? The Family Court is tasked with making these sorts of decisions ‘in the best interests of the child’ on a daily basis but what is in the best interests of the child? Sounds simple? Often there is no one right answer and Family Magistrates have to decide on the ‘least bad’ option and then provide a clear reason for coming to that decision. In this interactive session, Paula Yates, a member of Chester u3a and a magistrate in the Family Court, asked what information would sway you and what decisions you would come to. 78 members attended.
Doors open at 2pm, meeting starts at 2.30. Free refreshments.
Please note that this session will be live-streamed but will not be available afterwards as a recording.
