Chester u3a - Registered Charity No 1048416

Founded in 1993, Chester u3a is a totally volunteer-run organisation, one of more than a thousand u3as across the UK. We rely on our 1100+ members to volunteer for Committee posts and to organise our groups. Our aim is to encourage people in their third age to come together and continue their enjoyment of learning in subjects of interest to them. Subjects range from Art to Walking. We usually define "third age" to mean after you have retired from full-time work, which has little to do with your actual age, and you do not need to have been to university. As a member of Chester u3a you may attend any of the many Learning or Special Interest Groups. If no appropriate group is available then members may start a new group to further their learning with help from the Groups Coordinator. You are always welcome to help and there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in our u3a.
Regular meetings - two each month - are held at Picturehouse in the centre of Chester and in St Columba's Church Hall in Upton. Occasionally we use Storyhouse for special events. Once you are a member of Chester U3A, you can freely attend any of these sessions - these are not ‘groups’ that you need to join. You can get a taste of Chester u3a here.
