The History Group meets on the 4th Thursday, 10.00-12.00 at St Mary’s Centre, Handbridge.
Our topics for 2025 are the History of Spain from Roman times up to the 20th century, and Rebellions in England/Britain from medieval times onwards.
Meetings usually consist of two members giving short talks. We are quite a large, friendly and informal group, our usual attendance is about 30-40. We welcome people who would like to prepare and give talks, but there is no pressure to do this, and anyone is also welcome to just come and listen if they prefer. There is plenty of room in the hall, so new members are very welcome. A refreshment break between the two talks gives members some time to socialise.
