The Gardening Group meets on 1st Monday mornings.
We usually meet on 1st Monday of the month at 10.30 -12.30 (except Bank Holidays when we might change the day/date).
Members are mostly aged 70 + and 80+ and still generally mobile, but some employ someone to help with their garden. Some are more knowledgeable than others. No equipment is needed
There are no financial arrangements. On days out each person pays whatever entrance fee that may be applicable
We normally meet in each others homes, and the person hosting that day provides tea/coffee and biscuits. Meetings are usually informal to discuss plants, garden problems, and sometimes a quiz or a short talk by one of us. Depending on the season surplus plants are swapped or given to other members.
On longer trips to visit gardens or shows we have shared cars.
The Gardening group has been oversubscribed for a few years. I get
regular enquiries to join as people look at the lists of groups. A few
attempts have been made to try and start a 2nd group and the last one
in 2025 appeared to be going well when I helped 4 people to get
together. However nothing further seemed to happen and no response came
from the group and it did not appear as hoped in the group list..
